This is one of a series of paintings that reflect Anush’s deeply personal relationship to each of the four seasons. She was born on December 21st on the Winter Solstice. Here the transformative magic of the Solstice is captured in the contrast between darkness and light, with deep hues of silver, blue and white evoking the chill of the season. Embedded in the center of the painting is a small but joyous archer, the sign of Sagittarius, with his arrow pointed upward, as if aiming for a higher spiritual life.

Anush’s love for winter solstice is reflected in her thoughts on this painting: “I love this Day, as everything good that was done for the whole year comes back in the form of joyful events. Usually in December I have many victories at work, in different spheres of life and I enjoy anticipating the promises the next season will bring.”
