Famille Rose

French for “rose family,” it refers to Chinese porcelain with decoration painted with rose colors over the glaze in shades of pink and carmine. These colors were known in Chinese as yangcai or foreign colors as they were introduced from Europe in the late 17th century and primarily used in the 18-19th century.
