Ghana

The Republic of Ghana in West Africa was the first black African country south of the Sahara to be independent. With many natural treasures it began trade with Europeans in the 15th century and its available gold lead to its colonial name the Gold Coast. Interactions there changed to the slave trade in the 17th century eventually leaving Ghana with European-built forts, castles and a dark history.
