Kang

Meaning “to dry” and used in North China during cold weather, a kang is a brick or fired clay sleeping platform connecting to the kitchen stove duct bringing heat to the center of household. Able to accommodate a low table it is multifunctional area used as a bed, low table and a space for entertainment and other family events.
