Keras
The word” keras” describes a Balinese mask of a forceful and decisive personality reflected in his facial expression. In Balinese mask dance, there are two mask types expressing two different personalities. A court minister (patih) whose character is strong, bold and even possibly prone to anger (patih keras) is expressed in masks with an intense expression and forceful eyes while a second minister’s whose temperament may be moderated, controlled, diplomatic and even sweet (patih manis) is seen in a kind and gentle face. The mask of a bold character (manis) is colored red or another bold color, while the one of a more mild character is colored white or other neutral color.
