The Majapahit Empire is considered one of the greatest Southeast Asian empires in history. A Indianized Hindu-Buddhist kingdom in Southeast Asia that was based at its royal capital at Trowulan on the eastern part of the island of Java from 1293 to 1527, its territory covered present-day Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and Southern Thailand and had close relations with China, Champa (South Vietnam), Cambodia and Annam (also Vietnam). Trowulan is now an archaeological site in the Indonesian province of East Java.

Javanese terracotta head part of bas-relief frieze from Majapahit Empire. Most unearthed figures were small decapitated heads with Javanese facial features, hairstyles, large ear ornamentations of upper classes. A great small piece of history.
Crafted during the Majapahit Empire in Java this rare head was part of a bas-relief frieze decapitated as part of religious offerings.
