Tang Dynasty

(618-906) The Tang was one of the greatest periods in Chinese history when China become the most prosperous country in the world. It was the age of positive reforms, cultural developments, and liberalized government policies including tolerance for all religions, creation of the Tang legal code used by future dynasties and reduction of government and aristocracy excesses. Reforms improved government, military and agricultural operations; borders became secure; land lost to nomadic tribes was reclaimed; roads, temples and administrative centers were built and public libraries increased literacy leading to better jobs for the lower classes. Advancements were made in medicine, science, technology, architecture and literature and new inventions included water and fireproofing, machines to advance planting, irrigation and harvesting and the first gas stoves.
