Tea

Tea is the third most consumed beverage after water and coffee produced by steeping young leaves and buds of the plant, Camellia sinensis in boiled water. The two main varieties are the small-leaved China plant sinensis and the large-leaved Assam plant. According to legend, Shen Nong discovered tea in 2737 BCE sitting under a tree while his servant boiled drinking water and leaves fell into the water. In another version. Bodhidharma, the sixth century Indian monk who brought Buddhism to China is also credited with discovering tea. After nine years facing a cave wall in meditation he became furious when he could not stay awake longer and ripped off his eyelids which fell to the ground and became tea plants.
