Yixing

Yixing clay is also known as zisha ware, a trade secret mixture of kaolin, quartz and mica, with a high content of iron oxide, coming from the area near the city of the same name in Jiangsu province first used made the Song Dynasty. Extremely famous for their tea wares that are normally unglazed and often fired to a brown color, Yixing teapots absorb the essence of tea flavors and minerals and thus produces a unique coating that increases the flavor and taste of tea served from it with each brewing.
