Indian silver embossed or repoussé Ganesh amulet pendant seated with 4 arms holding traditional items like an axe, a lotus, or sweets in a braided rope-like design border.
Description
This antique/vintage tribal silver Ganesh amulet pendant from the Rajasthan region of India crafted in a square shape with an embossed or repoussé image of, Ganesh (Lord Ganesha), the son of Shiva and Parvati. As the Hindu elephant-headed god of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles, he is one of the most beloved Hindu deities. He is typically seated, with four arms holding various traditional items (such as an axe, a lotus, or sweets). The braided rope-like design border is characteristic of the unique artistic style of Rajasthani traditional Indian tribal jewelry.
Amulets like this were traditionally acquired by pilgrims at temples and worn by men, women, and children as protective talismans. Wearing his image close to the heart is believed to bring good luck, provide protection, and attract positive energy. It is a reminder of Ganesh’s qualities, like his intellect and problem-solving abilities, and inspires wearers to be more mindful.
The pendant is made of high-grade silver, with an oxidized finish that gives it a dark, rustic patina, highlighting the intricate details of the deity. In excellent condition it shows wear consistent with age and use.
