It has a smooth and undecorated body with only incised parallel rings circling plain surfaces and is topped by a Garuda pair sheltered by Naga hoods. Garuda, Vishnu’s mythical winged bird mount, and Naga, a seven-headed hooded serpent, are natural enemies but when they are represented together, they symbolizes peace, a very appropriate adornment for the tranquility and serenity elicited by the pleasing sounds of a prayer bell.

This antique manilla is made by the Kota in the northeastern region of Gabon and Congo. A thin wide C-shaped bracelet with an elaborate five section design, each section has unique designs with long striations, grooved crosshatches, long triangles and angled designs. In very good condition with minor losses, pitting and scratches, its rough surface inside is consistent with its age and use and comes with a wood and metal stand.
A kumkum container, also known as a sindor box is a small decorative holder for kumkum powder, a red or orange-red powder traditionally used in Hindu rituals and ceremonies. This container is brass with a foot with lotus leaves on the sides and floral patterns on the bottom and a decorative rim on the cup. These boxes are part of daily prayers (puja), festivals, weddings, and other auspicious occasions. The powder is used to apply a bindi – a forehead dot decoration associated with the third eye, representing wisdom and insight. While traditionally worn by women, and often signifying marriage, bindis are increasingly worn by men as well.

Though for daily use, Burmese craftsmen created beautiful objects and finished them with the best materials they could afford.
