Mined in the Himalayas, turquoise has been part of Himalayan culture for thousands of years, and almost all Himalayans have and wear turquoise in some form. Tibetan turquoise is rare, valuable and is mined from specific areas in the Himalayas. Tibetans and Nepalese consider it a spiritual and religious prized possession, viewing it as the “sky stone” brought from the heavens to earth.  The stone itself is believed to be distinct and indigenous with inherent value and power. It can impart knowledge, preserve family wealth and has ritual and medicinal applications. Revered for its beauty, metaphysical, spiritual and powers, Tibetan turquoise is a rich blue-green to green color, usually a higher and finer collectible grade. No stones are alike, as each piece has a distinctive pattern, sometimes with brown or black mineral veining.
