Turquoise
Turquoise is an opaque sacred crystal, gemstone and ornamental stone and among the most used ancient minerals used by humans. First mined about 6000BCE, it ranges from sky-blue to greenish-blue to greenish-gray and it has been cherished for millennia because of its unique and lovely hues. Considered a strong talisman, it is believed to balance the throat chakra and have the ability to resist and heal throat ailments, resist allergies and viruses as well as improve one’s ability to communicate. It is also said to protect one from harmful energy and negative forces and bring peace to one’s home and family. As its colors are considered very calming, the stone is also associated with serenity. Tibetan turquoise is rare, valuable and is mined in specific areas in the Himalayas. Tibetans and Nepalese consider it a spiritual, religious, and prized possession brought from the heavens to earth. The stone is believed have inherent value and power to impart knowledge, preserve family wealth and has ritual and medicinal applications. It is a rich blue-green to green color, usually a higher and finer collectible grade, and no two turquoise stones are alike.
