White Hooded Guanyin

Although she had 33 manifestations, during the Ming and Qing dynasties, one of the most popular depictions was White Hooded Guanyin (aka White Robed, White Clad. The beloved and widespread Guanyin image was seen in temples or home altars portraying her as a simple image draped in white, her head covered in a hood-like garment representing serene beauty and compassion. She often holds and or sits on a lotus flower, the Buddhist symbol of the flowering of the mind. She was frequently portrayed wearing her white hooded robe in Nanhai and Songzi Guanyin statues.
