Barry Brinker Silver Necklace with Vintage Latvian Coin and French Fittings (N371AEM) $595

This fine piece of contemporary-jewelry is part of the VA Barry-Brinker-Vintage-Collection acquired in the 1990s. All pieces in this collection including necklaces are hand-made, one-of-a-kind and personally designed by the popular and well-known jewelry designer who blended 950 silver with objects such as antiquities or antiques, unique artifacts, gemstones, natural pearls, coins and other treasures acquired during his travels. Necklaces and other pieces were created in his studio by expert silversmith-craftsmen following his specific instructions. The pendant here is a 1920 vintage 5 Lati Latvian coin colloquially known by the Latvian name of Milda initially issued in 1920 and reissued 1929-1932 with each having the issue date on the reverse side which cannot be seen here. The coin’s reverse is decorated with the Latvian coat of arms and 3 five-pointed stars above it symbolizing the three Latvian territories Latvia was divided into in Czarist times. It is set with old French fittings above and a vintage silver oval covered with flat spheres dangling below. As many of his necklaces, the rolo style silver chain of oval and round links is 21″ a versatile size that can be used with any type of attire, and it has a hook closure with the Barry Brinker (BB) signature flame shaped tag as part of the clasp. This necklace is in excellent condition and may have a slightly worn patina which can be polished to a bright sheen should the owner wish to polish it.
