Coin Silver

Antique Ethiopian Crosses were made from melted coins whose silver content was variable depending on where, when, composition with other metals and the auspices under which it was made. In the 19th century silver Austrian Maria Theresa silver coins called Thalers were the main source of coin silver. They were melted and poured into lost wax molds to create pendants and since Thaler coins had a regulated silver content of.833 silver, these crosses were high grade coin silver.
