Description

This lovely 20^th century Thai bronze Guanyin statue sits in meditation (dhyana mudra) on a multi-tiered throne  hands in the lap holding her sacred vase containing amitra the sacred dew of compassion, healing and immortality that represents humanities’ tears and her the never ending compassion. Portrayed as White Robed Guanyin, she has a high bun chignon with finely carved individual strands of hair, covered by an open hood centered by a mandorla surrounding an image of Buddha Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, her spiritual teacher, from which rays of light emanate. With her head slightly lowered, half closed eyes, face framed by her pendulous elongated ears which extend to the shoulders and lips in a benevolent half smile, she is a vision of compassionate serenity. The urna on her forehead is a third eye and indicates an enlightened being and her ability to look past the ordinary world of suffering into the divine world. The metalwork image, which was made using the lost wax process as one-of-a-kind Statue.
